Klout Mobile is here, and I LOVE it

kloutAnyone who works in Social Media marketing, or a social media geek knows Klout. It’s simply a magical tool that tells you how “influential” are you in social media. The rate is up to 100. And anything above 55 is good.

Oh, it’s showing off time…. according to Klout, I’m the 75th most influential person on twitter back in 2011

Back to Klout, so this tool has been on the web for a while now, not very insightful, it just tells you, you’re good at this and that, but doesn’t help you get better. Just a few tips here and there, but that’s it.

Now, Klout has gone mobile, and it’s very good.

You can select types of information you’re already influential in or trying to be, and Klout will suggest you a stream of different articles to read and share.

You can schedule posts on Klout directly. It might be glitchy for now, but this tool is promising.

Take a look at the app.

so far it’s only on iOS, and Android will follow soon.

How to access 3G connection from ur iphone 3G/3Gs

At the beginning i thought it was an easy task for every one to do and by only searching the internet they could reach it. but i found many of my friends still ask me about the way to do it.cellular data network

Sure the post is talking about accessing 3G connection and have a mobile internet access without subscribing in the data plan ur official service provider is offering u. specially these plans are very expensive in some countries. One more addition feature is that u can do it without having to jailbreak ur iphone.

Note : This method is not 100% guaranteed, but it worked 8 out of 9 times.

1) ok, now open ur safari browser from the iphone connected with wireless internet.

2) enter this link : http://www.unlockit.co.nz

3) choose custom APN

4) i recommend searching in the drop down list for ur carrier ( take care of the country; for example vodafone egypt = EG ‚Äď Vodafone)

5) if the carrier is not in the list try contacting the customer service or search the web u ll most probably find it. ( for egypt : vodafone and mobinil are on the list, for etisalat ūüėÄ just enter etisalat in the APN, username, and password fields :D:D that should work)

6) now u ll find two options use the install profile it is easy and should work without problems, safari will open a different page now click install and wait till the profile is installed

7) close the wifi connection open the 3G, Edge and allow cellular data in iOS 4

8) make sure u got enough credit ūüėÄ and now u can use 3G just like a nokia owner without any data plans and these rip offs.

please check the site first from ur pc browser to make sure it supports ur iphone model and software.. although it works with almost every model and software.

Introducing Windows Live Writer

Well, I‚Äôve been blogging for almost a year now. I‚Äôve been using the built in editor for writing the articles and actually WordPress made it pretty well. Lately I’ve been looking for a tool to work on the desktop regardless I’m online or not. I found plenty of tools but in this post I will introduce my Favorite.

This tool has been tested only with WordPress.com blog.

Windows Live Writer

It is An awesome tool for blogging. It has many cool features and a bunch of  cool plug-ins to enhance your articles and your blogging experience.

Importing Skins

This is my favorite feature. If you are using WordPress, Windows Live Writer will import your skin and your editor will look exactly like your blog’s skin. Gives you preview while you are writing !!

Here is how my Windows Live Writer looks like.

The ability to add plug-ins is really great. You can add a plug-in to support writing Code Snippets , or insert a file or maybe insert a video.

Here is the Plug-ins gallery for Windows Live Writer.  You can make almost anything , create a gallery or a movie or add links to social networks.

Quick Publish

You have multiple useful options, you can save the draft in your Windows Love Writer,  safe it as a draft to your blog and edit online ( for last touches ) or Publish online directory.

There is also the ability to preview the post with one click. On the bottom next to Edit, there is Preview , that will show you how the post will look on your blog.

The bad

The only bad thing i noticed in Window Live Writer, is when you post a PNG image, it loses the transparency and turns into an ugly image. My fix is write all what you want then click on Post draft to blog and edit online, then add your images on your online editor.

How to Get it

However it’s still a very useful tool. Now I can’t live without it, since whatever in my mind i just write in it and maybe post it later. You can download Windows Live Writer from this Link, it usually comes in the package with Windows Live Messenger.

That’s it guys, tell me if you have any other feature that would help our blogging experience and make our life easier. And don’t forget to comment and say if you like this tool or not . Thanks for reading.

Organize Your Life Using Google Calendar

Have you ever tried organizing your meetings, schedules or outings and you end up forgetting one or more of them. Well after reading this post, Google Calendar will be your best friend. Google Calendar (as any Google App) is fast, simple and smart. It will help you organize and simplify your life and daily tasks through a nice interface and cool features.

To use Google Calendar, first you need a Google Account. If you don’t have one,  Sign up.

Google Calendar default view is week view, I personally like the month view, so I tend to set it up as my default. You can do that by accessing Settings>Calendar Settings>Default view. Also from the setting page you can add your starting week day ( Sunday, Monday, etc.), your location and set up your preferred language.]

Mobile Notifications

One of Google Calendar cool features that it supports Mobile notification. So you get all your reminders on your mobile, incase you are not on your computer. Enable that by going to Settings>Calendar Settings>Mobile Setup ‚Äď> Then add your Phone number then click Send Verification Code , in few seconds you will get a SMS that has that code. Enter it and you will get a verification message that your mobile has been registered.

This way you will get notified for your Events and the updates that happens instantly.

Creating an Event

You can create a new event in two simple ways. One of them is super fast, which just Click ‚Äėq‚Äô then type the event‚Äôs name. That will redirect you to the event‚Äôs page to edit the details. It will be set automatically to the day after unless you edit that.

The other way (which I usually use) is clicking on the day you want to create the event in, type then name then Edit event details >>.

In the event view window there are several things that can be done. First setting the time of the event (Whole day or a number of hours) then if this event will be repeated (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, etc.). Then where will the event be and its description. The Calendar option is used if you have different calendar (Work, University, Sports, etc.)

Below you will find the reminders part. You can set it as you would like by changing the type of reminders to (Email , Pop-up or SMS). If you have a setting you would like to use every time you create an event go to Settings>Calendar Settings>Calendars ‚Äď> Notifications then set them as you desire.

Daily Agenda

one of the cool features of notifications that Google Calendar can send you your daily agenda with a summary of what you have today. You can enable it from The notification tab of the calendar you want. You will receive your agenda at 5AM (your time) daily.

Add Calendars

If you have other calendars you found and want to add, it is a simple task, click Add in the Other calendars part and choose the option you want. You can browse Google’s recommended calendars, add your friends calendars or add the URL of a certain calendar. For more edits and options (Notifications and sharing), click Settings.

One of the great features in Google Calendar is the ability of creating multiple calendars for different purposes, yet you can share them with anyone.

Print or Save your Calendar

Now you can print or save your calendar as PDF. All you need to do is click on print, next to day | week | month   buttons. and Save As.. (which only saves in PDF) or print it.

Of course Google will never have an app without adding a lab for the employees to play in. Calendar has a small lab that has few extra features. You can browse them by clicking on the green test tube right next to Settings menu, in the top-right corner.

I would recommend adding Next meeting, since it tells how many days/hours/minutes left to your next meeting/event.

Chrome Extension

Another great extension for Google Calendar (if you are using Chrome) is Google Calendar for Today. It shows you the events you have today in a nice simple way.

Firefox Add-on

For Firefox users this is a nice add on to enhance Google Calendar. It adds many nice features that can be very useful. It’s called Better GCal. Here is a nice article to get started with it.

That’s it guys, Hope you find this useful for your professional and personal life. If you have any¬†suggestions¬†or any experience/feature with Google Calendar you wanna share, Don’t hesitate to comment.

What Makes Google Chrome Super Cool

Google Chrome spreading like¬†zombies! Once you try it, you don’t really quit it. It is just simple and fast. Not that¬†flexible¬†to personalize like Firefox, but still has many nice features. It comes after Firefox as the #2¬†best web browsers, some Google fans think it will become the #1 soon , specially after releasing their stable version and their support on Linux-Ubuntu.

Google Chrome is as fast as lightning, sound wave and even than shooting a potato through a very long pipe !!!

Check out the speed test video.

These are the things that makes chrome just Cool.

Chrome Support adding some cool extensions and does not require restart. Here are some useful extensions for personal use and web development. And this is Google’s extension gallery.

Also Chrome supports adding themes. Check out these themes. Also you can find other themes in the extension gallery themes.

Sync Passwords and bookmarks

You can easily sync your bookmarks and passwords with your Gmail and use them on any other computer you use. Just go to settings menu on the right top corner then Options > Personal Stuff tab > Bookmark Sync .

Developers Tool

This tool is for inspecting elements and debugging JavaScript. It’s simple and very useful for web development. You can access it from the Page menu > Developer > ¬†Pick One.

Private Browsing

The incognito mode, helps you have a private browsing with no history saved. Ctrl+Shift+N and you’ve got a new tab with private browsing.

And the reason why Google Chrome super cool is.

It’s Just Fast !!

Google Chrome is my default web browser for only one reason. This is the same reason that makes it Super Cool.

What Makes Opera A Cool Browsers to Use

Indeed Opera is one of the top browsers on the internet these days. It is in the top 5 browsers on the web. After Firefox,Chrome and Internet Explorer. Opera has a lot of interesting features that I will be talking about in this article. Open is pretty fast, it’s even faster than a boiling¬†potato as Odd & Even Presented.

I will be Starting with the important features then going into some luxury features. First The updates of the new version.

  • new Carakan JavaScript engine,it is a cross-platform h mechanism.¬†now this is fast. ¬†I’ve tried it with the usual web apps like Gmail, or Google Calendar, Twitter or¬†Facebook. It was pretty fast.

Carakan is currently about two and a half times faster at the SunSpider benchmark than the ECMAScript engine in Presto 2.2 (Opera 10 Alpha). Opera core concerns.

  • HTML5 Support. CSS3 Support
  • They added a new Opera Menu button on the left upper corner.
  • A ¬†new interface design that looks simple yet fancy.¬†The best experience with the design is on Windows, as it takes advantage of the new Aero¬†transparency¬†in Windows 7 by having a¬†transparent¬†window bar and quick view of the webpages when it is minimized.
  • Search in the¬†history¬†or the web on the address bar. I personally love that feature in the browser I use, for faster and easier searching.
  • Private Browsing, the history of a visited website is deleted once the website is closed.

Speed Dial

This is a feature seen in many web browsers, the easy access to your favorite websites from your homepage. What’s nice about this one , is after you sort and edit your speed dial, you can just type 1, 2 or any # then click Enter to access that page. Easy, Simple and Smart. ¬†You can add your custom background to that page for more personalization.

Opera Turbo

Turbo helps you boost your internet bandwidth speed by using their own proxy servers. On their servers they compress data and image traffic then send it back to your computer. You sometimes have good internet connection and you don’t need it !!? Sure, Turbo can¬†automatically¬†detect if you have a slow connection or not, so to enable this feature or not.

Opera Link

This feature is for synchronizing your data online for other computers or mobiles. It synchronizes the bookmarks, speed dial, history and notes. Get Started with Opera Link.

Opera Mail

An e-mail client built in Opera for checking, reading and writing emails. It has a simple and professional interface. It integrates with IMAP (e.g. Gmail) and POP (e.g. Hotmail ). Get Started with Opera Mail.

Opera Dragonfly

This is a debugging tool for web developers. Debugging¬†JavaScript¬†and inspect CSS. You can access it from “Page> Developer Tools > Opera Dragonfly”.

Password Manager

This is a very useful feature. It can do two main tasks, first as any password manager, saves your password for later use. As you can trigger it by clicking on the Key Icon on right next to the address bar.

The second task is filling the forms while you are registering in a new website. Just fill the form in ¬†” Setting>Preference>Forms ” tab. ¬†You can trigger it by ” right click > Insert Personal “.

Download Manager

In Opera , the download managers allows you to pause and continue the download. Not just that, it allows you to download torrent without the need of having¬†separate¬†application because Opera’s Download Manager has a built support for BitTorrent.

Save A Session

This feature is for saving the current opened tabs, if they are maybe usual tabs such as mail or news, you can save them by selecting ¬†the Opera icon ” Tabs and Windows > Sessions > Save this session”

Window Tabs

This is a simple overview of the opened pages right on the window bar. You can select it’s lower frame and enlarge it as much as you need for a quick review.

Luxury Features

These features are very interesting, however you can live without them. These are just for people who likes trying different features ūüėÄ

Mouse Gestures

This is my personal favorite. Using some combination of the mouse you can have shortcuts in the browser. Access the previous page (hold right click and move the mouse left) , or the next page (hold right click and move the mouse right ) and many other cool mouse gestures that can be used. Here is a link for some useful gestures.

Opera Unite

Now this is a cool feature but the only problem is, its best use when your friends have Opera as well. It can be activated from the bottom bar, then after the registration you will have your domain on operaunite.com . After activating Opera Unite a side bar will be visible with some of the new options in Opera and Opera Unite.

Opera Unite lets you share your stuff directly to your friends. No need for uploading to a website. It simply adds a server to your web browser and other can simply connect to it.

The Opera Unite server is located in your Opera browser on your computer as part of Opera Unite. A proxy server is used when no direct connection is established, and this proxy server is currently located in Norway. No data is stored on any Opera-owned servers. Opera Unite

Using Opera Unite will allow you to have many applications, some of them are really nice to have. There is a messenger for talking with your opera friends, file sharing, photo sharing, your media player and your web server. for more info about Opera Unite check this link.

Opera Widgets

If all the previous features are not enough for you, they made you Opera Widgets, where you can download more widgets and features for better and personalized browser. The widgets run outside of the browser so you can browse independently from your opened widgets.

That’s it, Enjoy browsing with Opera . Download

How to Use Google Reader and RSS Feeds

RSS Feeds are one of the things that changed the way we read on the internet. By subscribing in a website’s RSS feeds, you get notified for a new post or a new article or maybe¬†receive¬†that article on your email. RSS helped readers have more productivity and saved a lot of time, since they can have multiple sources in one application or one page.

Google Reader is the one of the best ways to have all your RSS feeds in one place and read them easily. It is very simple and easy to use. Of course to use Google Reader, you must have Google account. So if you don’t, you are missing a lot .

In this article, a best-practice-guide to use your Google Reader will be presented, that will help you be more productive and have your favorite websites in one place.

Web Browser

First, you need to have a web browser that supports adding RSS feeds ( There are other ways to do it , but this is -by far- the easiest).

Firefox is cool enough to have it built in. If the website you are in supports RSS (Like this one) you will find an orange icon, like the one above where it will help you subscribe < Will be Explained later >

In chrome you need to install an extension for that, I Explained that extension in this post and it is extension number 8.

How to use RSS

You start by clicking the orange icon on the browser’s address bar. Usually you get the choice of choosing between RSS or Atom ( or maybe comments , which is not our interest for the time being). Atom has little more features than RSS, so I would recommend choosing Atom. Some websites will not support Atom, so you will just use the normal RSS 2.0 feeds. If you wanna know the difference between RSS and Atom here is an¬†article that talks about it.

Then you will get the chance to choose which host will be used for these feeds. You will choose Google > Add to Google Reader.

Google Reader

After you are subscribed to that feed, you will find it in your¬†subscription part in your Google Reader¬†( which is the last section on the left – as showing in the picture below). You can make folders to organize your feeds when they became a bigger number. By hovering over the item, a small triangle will be¬†visible¬†right next to the name of the item. Click on it and choose “New folder” and name is anything you want. Adding any other feed to that website is done by clicking on the triangle then clicking on the name of your folder.

“More like this … ” option will get you similar blogs or websites to the one you are on. This one is useful if you are looking for more sources of the same subject.

That’s my favorite part in reader. You will see Recommended items and Recommended sources. If you are new to reader they wont be as nice as they will be few more weeks later. They are the smart brain in Google Reader, they give you the famous articles surfing the web. If you “Like” an article, next time you login Reader you will get similar articles in your Recommended Items. Isn’t it cool ?

Recommended sources gets you similar sources to your subscription list.

Another feature of reader, is that you can add a subscription of any website on the internet, even if it doesn‚Äôt have an rss feed. Google reader will track it for you. Just click on ‚Äúadd a subscription‚ÄĚ on the top left and paste the URL.

People you follow

Those are usually your contact list, or¬†people¬†you decided to follow from their Google Profile. Here is my list, feel free to follow me – I share cool stuff ūüėõ –

These are simple easy shortcuts for the faster use.
